A couple days ago I caught the video for Lily Allen’s “Smile” on the Tube network. It’s a catchy tune and and a funny video so I decided to check her out. I got a couple of her songs including LDN and Smile. You have to like and understand a British cockney/mockney accent to get much from her, but if you do, you will probably fall in love with her voice. If however you are the kind of person that has to like the person as well as the artist, from what I read her personality leaves a little to be desired. She is kind of the “bad-girl” of the pop-London scene… basically she’s just got attitude.
I also went out searching across the internet for a little new techno music and came across the band Freezepop. If are not into techno music you will not like them. However in a genre that has long been mired in the ’80s they have fresh sound that at the same time is a little retro. I haven’t fallen in love their sound yet, however they have a prodigious discography that I definitely feel is worth exploring.
