Christmas Marquee

Yes we decorated a bit early this year but mostly because we were hosting a party for a friend this past weekend. Also we figure since it is takes so much time to put everything up, we might as well enjoy it for a good month or so. If you only put it up the week before Christmas and take it down the week after, what’s the point… I wouldn’t even bother. So since the theater marquee was done I had to come up with something for it.

I included the source file that I created at the top of the picture since the marquee is difficult to read in the picture (even with a little Photoshop magic.) The whole thing is done on transparency film between two layers of clear contact paper. It works out really well (by design) since the height of the opening is 11 inches and the width of the contact paper is 12 inches, it allows me to slip the top and the bottom in between the plastic lens and the face frame to hold it in place. When the holiday is over I’ll take it down, roll it up and put it away till next year. I think we are going to create other inserts for different times of the year. I figure with a hundred years of film we should be able to come up with movies that are appropriate for just about every month.

FYI: One of Steph’s favorite movies is A Christmas Story.
